Christmas in Nairobi

Working on Alex's birthday present

Making Christmas cookies

Enjoying an amazing Indian Dhali (mixed dish dinner) with long-time African residents, Harold and Annetta Miller.  We've decided Kenyan food isn't particularly notable, but the local Indian and Ethiopian food is incredible.

Random encounters, this one at a vegetable market - man wearing a "Yoder Dame, Fighting Amish" shirt!

Harold attempts to explain Amish to some interested locals

Family of warthogs at the entrance to the elephant orphanage

A highlight of most people's trip to Nairobi is to see the baby elephant orphans.  Here a wild giraffe from adjacent Nairobi Natl Park seems to be joining in!

The baby elephants were fearless, and so were the boys.

Baby elephants traipse back to..wherever..after putting on their show.

The elephants are under 2, so need to be fed milk.  Part of our family Christmas was to "adopt" an elephant.

More enjoying the elephants
Also enjoyed a quick tour of the Karen Blixen museum in that area of Nairobi.  It's been a long time since any of us saw "Out of Africa", but we were still interested to see the house and grounds.
Skink found in our yard - playing dead.  It had a unique rolling escape behavior, shown in the video below.
